IS THE IPHONE GOOD ENOUGH FOR DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY?

My beloved wants to only make use of his iphone GPS app to expostulate from Alaska to Eugene OR given we have been moving. Is this a great idea? Should he get a genuine GPS for the car? Will it be some-more reliable?
