My beloved wants to only make use of his iphone GPS app to expostulate from Alaska to Eugene OR given we have been moving. Is this a great idea? Should he get a genuine GPS for the car? Will it be some-more reliable?

I have the iPhone and I think it’s hard enough to understand the instructions driving across town with the maps service.
I don’t think it’s a good idea. You can get GPS systems fairly cheap now a days. The problem with the iPhone GPS is that it is not turn by turn directions with voice. It does not re-route you if you miss a turn. It is as if you were following directions printed out from mapquest.com. With an actual GPS, it will tell when to turn, if you miss a turn and now they will re-route you to a quicker route if there is heavy traffic. The iphone simply shows instructions and that’s it. You could go down the wrong road for miles before you relize your not on the right road. Where as an actual GPS won’t let that happen.
